Sink Combs Dethlefs has received an AIA Denver Citation Award, and an Athletic Business Magazine Facility of Merit Award for it's design of the Charles Whitlock Recreation Center. The $7.9M recreation center is located in Lakewood, Colorado. Built to replace an existing facility that was nearly 30 years old, the Whitlock Recreation Center provides longtime users additional recreation opportunities.

Major components of the recreation center include the pool, gymnasium, a fitness training area, an aerobics/dance room and the Discovery Center. The Discovery Center houses a rotating assortment of innovative equipment, giving the users the opportunity to periodically sample alternative workouts. The new facility is the cornerstone of a multi-purpose park development to serve the City's northern neighborhoods.
