April: Allen Hockey Team Announced - On Thursday, April 24, an estimated 2,500 guests stopped by the Allen Event Center construction site to sign a steel beam that became a permanent fixture within the building. Representatives from Top Shelf, LLC, the ownership company for Allen’s newly announced Central Hockey League (CHL) franchise, were also on hand to unveil the team name during the event. The new CHL franchise is a Minor League affiliate of the Dallas Stars and is named the Allen Americans.
